A winery with a famous name: The founder, Ugo Tognazzi, is one of Italy's greatest comedians, who decided to fulfill his dream of a winery. Tognazzi achieved international fame especially in the 60s and 70s by acting and producing in films such as "Barbarella", "La Grande Bouffe", "La Cage aux Folles" and "Tragedy of a Ridiculous Man". But Tognazzi wasn't only successful as an actor, but also as author. He wrote several cookbooks, since he appreciated food, cooking and gourmet.

Ugo Tognazzi and his family moved to Velletri in the mid 60s and bought land near Rome, which they cultivated with vines. There he began to live his dream of owning his own vineyards. When Ugo Tognazzi died in 1990 his wife, Franca, expanded his vision making wine at the age of 68. And Gian Marco Tognazzi, the Ugo's amd Francs's third son, finally turned La Tognazza into the winery, whicht its today, making outstanding products!

The world-famous oenologist Franco Bernabei, who is also known as "Mr. Sangiovese", now manages the production and quality of their wines together with his son Matteo. Up to now they produce six wines: Voglia Matta (100% Chardonnay), Tapioco (Chardonnay/Vermentino), Antani (Syrah/Sangiovese), Come Se Fosse (Merlot/Sangiovese), Casa Vecchia (90% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) and Conte Mascetti (75% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 10% Syrah).
