Livius Graciano from Bodegas Alvia is an excellent red wine from Rioja with a fine style yet powerful personality. Initially, the wine reveals a beautiful aroma of ripe fruit and plums. This then quickly transforms into an impulsive as well as delicate taste of ripe fruit. At last, this is followed by several other aromas with variety. Among them are mainly nuances of cloves, cherries and plums. These are the combines with pleasant acidity and a subtle note of wood or vanilla!

Livius Graciano is a red wines from the Spanish winery Bodegas Alvia located in the famous Rioja region. In particular this wine is a truly exclusive as well as intense wine from Spain. But first, the cultivation and harvest plays a very important role. Accordingly, all grapes are sorted by hand. Now back to the actual taste and characteristics of the wine. The first thing that appears in the glass is a dark cherry red color. Accordingly, the wine immediately reveals the first aroma of plums and ripe fruit. Subsequently, the wine develops a pleasant bouquet of mint and balsamic. Moreover, a truly enticing aroma with clear flavors.
After that, the wine surprises with its impressive taste on the palate. The wine, however, is not only powerful and full-bodied, but also elegant and delicate. In fact, the balance of this Spanish wine is a real masterpiece of oenologist Alfredo Bernáldez. In this respect, the winery has also given the wine sufficient strength. This, of course, only with the right acidity. And finally, aromas of cloves, cherries as well as plums emerge. Nevertheless, just very simple and thus not too intrusive. In addition, a well-integrated wood note accompanies the whole spectacle, which also gives the wine a certain depth. And last but not least, harmonious nuances of cocoa and licorice transition into a great finish. Overall, a well-structured wine full of power and flavors!
As the name already suggests, it is made out of 100% Graciano and thus a very fruity wine! Similar to its siblings Tempranillo and Garnacha, the winery also puts a lot of emphasis on sorting and selecting the grapes to always increase the quality. Accordingly, of course, each grape is also picked only by hand.
The cellar work of this wine seems rather more elaborate than with many other wines. First, the fermentation takes place cold to preserve the aromas and characteristics of the grape variety. Then it matures between 18 and 24 months in new barriques. And of course, not just in one, but in barrels of French, Hungarian and American oak. Therefore, a rather unique wine from Rioja with a lot of potential!
