Livius Garnacha a full-bodied red wine from the winery Bodegas Alvia, a winery from the Rioja region. Firstly, this wine shows a cherry red color in the glass. Furthermore it is one of three red wines in this category. Just like the other wines of this winemaker, this one develops beautiful fruit aromas both on the palate and in the nose.
Especially a scent of red berries, cocoa, tobacco as well as raspberries dominate the journey. In addition, the Livius Garnacha is also a really refreshing red wine. And this despite the fullness and power, which is mainly felt on the palate. Moreover, spicy aromas of blackberries and cocoa then overtake the palate reviving the palate of this Spanish wine.
Thus, this red wine from Bodegas Alvia is a really nice fruit bomb, which also goes well with raw meat such as beef tartare. Of course, one can also pair it with almost all rice and pasta dishes. And last but not least, it its a well-balanced solo wine as well. So an ideal drinking companion.
This wine is also produced with a lots of patients and passion. In fact, the used Garnacha grape grows and thrives in a natural but also selected environment. In this regard, the winery pays much attention to the quality of the soil. Furthermore, the yield of the vines is very low, which also lead to high quality. This is especially caused by the fact that the old vines were planted between 1915 and 1940. And, like with many other wineries, quality is the first priority.
This wine is also pressed and fermented cold. Of course, again to preserve all the flavors. Afterwards the wine fermented again with 24°. And the refinement is carried out malolactically in the barrel. In regards to the maturation, the wine is aged for 18-24 months in new oak barrels of French, American and Hungarian oak. And like the other two siblings of the premium line Tempranillo and Graciano, an excellent Rioja with a lot of power but also elegance at the same time!
