Arak Gantous & Abou Raad Classic (0,75l) is almost the most drunk anise liquor from Lebanon. Especially since it comes from the oldest distillery in Lebanon. Therefore, this bottle often serves as a gift to compatriots. Especially since every Lebanese has already seen the bottle in their household. Mostly because of their grandfathers or parents, because they called the Arak Gantous & Abou Raad Classic usually also on of their favorite.

Why is Arak Gantous & Abou Raad so popular?

Mainly, it is the taste which crowns this Lebanese anise liquor as a favorite. Because this one is a lot sharper and more robust than the other arak varieties. Thus, it reminds most of a homemade arak. Nevertheless, it is really accessible and smooth at the same time. Therefore, it is a good introduction to the world of arak from Lebanon.

Continuing, this Lebanese anise schnapps first develops a nice scent of plants and licorice. Accordingly, exactly these nuances are very common when it comes to Lebanese arak. Therefore, this arak, like its two older siblings gold and special, is very fine and full-bodied on the palate. In addition, there is an intense hint of a fresh herbal mixture. And although this one is only the entry level of the distillery, it definitely is the perfect liquor for everyday life and especially a convivial round with friends.

Otherwise, this also goes well with beef tartare and dishes with lots of garlic as well as spiciness. But also fish and vegetables can be combined with this drink very well. A really good food companion.

About the production of this anise schnapps

Yes, this arak is made only from the best grapes as well. So from Obeidy to be exact. However, the production is rather aimed at making an honest, simple but still very good liquor. Therefore, the traditional method of a triple distillation is also used here. Of course, this also means, that the alcohol is stored for one year in clay jugs. Correspondingly this basically refines and purifies the alcohol from harmful substances such as the ethanol, that can be harmful when drinking too much
